Changes Revisited

Before

A few issues ago, we showed you this photo of the intersection of Main and Broadway. Clearly, it had seen better days.

After

Amazing what repair to the stucco, paint, new windows, and new concrete will do, eh? And there's still more to come on the inside. A really positive change, don't you think?

Before

This photo was taken last fall, when it was still the Old City Hall.

After

There's still a long way to go on what is now Lafayette Hall. They've cleaned the exterior and repointed a good deal of the brick. With winter, much of the work has been on the interior. Still, if you compare the two pictures, you'll notice that a small window to the right of the main entrance is gone, and the Fire House doorway has been lowered. And more changes are sure to come!

Bookstore front

Well, we don't have a "before" shot, but work is steadily underway and the River Reader book store is scheduled for opening in May in the green store front. (Which was formerly, we believe, Wulfekamer's shoe store. Is that right?) The staff of the Library, just to the west of the new book store, are eager to try the coffee bar which will be a part of the River Reader.

More details can be found at the River Reader web site.
