Memories of Central School

Barbara Lee '57 Fay wrote in our last issue of memories of Central School. We thought you might like to see a few pictures to stir your memories -- perhaps you have a picture or two you might share with us?

This picture, from a postcard offered on eBay, was shown a while ago in the TLC web pages. It shows the "turret" which Barbara learned was the office of the Principal, Mrs. Rush. (How did Barbara find out? Was she "sent to the Principal"? Tsk-tsk!)

A more contemporaneous photo was submitted by Mary K Wilcoxon '58 Gooseman, who says the photo was taken in "1957, one of the last years it was used before Leslie Bell was built." Old-timers may remember that after Leslie Bell School was in operation, Central School became a "Teen-Town" for at least a couple of years. And then it stood vacant.

And then, sadly, in March of 1964, Central School caught fire...

...and there wasn't much left.
